English / SaesnegSouth Wales Fire and Rescue Service has a statutory duty to provide an emergency Fire and Rescue provision to the communities it serves, however, there may be occasions when there is a significant reduction in staff e.g., during periods of industrial action.The Service would like to ensure that there is resilience in supporting the handling of emergency calls during any periods of industrial action.We are looking for Auxiliary Control Firefighters for our Joint Fire Control Centre based within South Wales Police Headquarters, Bridgend. This is an excellent opportunity to support the public and communities of South Wales by answering and professionallyhandling 999 emergency calls, mobilising appliances, officers, and specialist resources to support the effective response to emergencies, no two calls are the same and no two days are the same!The post holders will work as part of a Team in a disciplined environment, following processes and procedures. The role will involve answering telephone calls from distressed members of the public and gathering sufficient detail over the phone within a noisyenvironment. Successful applicants will have quick and accurate data entry skills with a minimum of 35 words per minute, functional experience of Windows based applications and experience of using Database information.The Selection process for shortlisted applicants will include a typing test and Interview. The successful candidate will be required to pass a South Wales Police vetting process prior to appointment (Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) and be required toundertake a Drug and Alcohol Test prior to an appointment being made.It is Essential that applicants: -
