Job Description

A unique and exciting opportunity to secure a permanent position at an Outdoor Nursery in Leek. The Outdoor Nursery develop valuable and enduring life skills whilst enjoying fun and knowledge broadening experiences in an outdoor environment.Location: Leek, StaffordshireStart Date: ASAPDays: 4 days PW with Mon-FriHours: 8am-4pm (30 Hours PW) Salary: £14,040 PAHave a read through the role below, and get in touch with Natalie straight away for more information:*Key Requirements*•Qualified to Level 3 in Childcare •Experience of working with young children in a childcare setting•Show a passion for the Forest School ethos and be willing to put this into practice alongside the Curiosity Approach and In the Moment Planning*Principal Accountabilities*To support the Outdoor Nursery Leaders to:•Meet all the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage including safeguarding, wellbeing and the development of all children.•Work as a team with the Flying High Outdoor Nursery family.•Facilitate child-led experiences at base camp and in the wider reserve to support the development of life skills such as communication, resilience, imagination, problem-solving, teamwork, empathising and making decisions, extending childrens learning opportunities through Planning In The Moment pedagogy.•Maintain an environment where children are safe and able to have fun whilst learning•Set up and maintain nursery equipment, resources and shelters.•Be an effective role model for the children, demonstrating positive British values and showing a great appreciation for nature.•Ensure childrens hygiene and toilet requirements are met.•Assist children to prepare, cook and serve their own meals, sometimes using open fires while ensuring strict food hygiene standards are maintained. •To maintain all current accreditations and continuously improve own practice through reflection and CPD, including any legal requirements.•Professionally liaise with parents and carers ensuring a continuous two-way conversation is upheld to inform both ourselves and parents about the childs progress•Ensure Learning Journals are kept up to date and ensure daily checklists and food hygiene practices are completed•To be an ambassador for the nursery, its values and ambitions.*Skills/Qualities*•Creative and fun-loving with a willingness to immerse themselves in the childrens adventures every day•An excellent team player with an ability to show initiative in every situation•Hardworking, enthusiastic and reliable•Ability to develop childrens self-esteem and confidence using a nurturing and caring approach•Ability to facilitate child-led learning •Passion for nature and the outdoors and an appreciation for how it benefits children with regards to their mental wellbeing, physical health and all-round learning and development•Ability to stay positive during challenging periods •Sense of humour!
