Job Description

The Provident Financial Group is made up of Provident Home Credit, Satsuma Loans, Vanquis Bank, Cheque Exchange and Moneybarn.The role of a Strategic Analyst is to support the Strategic Analytics Manager to develop credit, commercial and operational strategies that underpin long-term profitable business growth through robust insight and analysis alongside responsible lending to our customers. Effectively working with the Decision Science, Credit Management and Financial Strategy teams on development and implementation of credit strategies.Key Responsibilities:Delivering our Numbers;

  • Support Analytics Manager in leading development and optimisation of credit strategies, impact assessment analysis of proposals on business profitability across different customer segments and types
  • Solve business problems through analytical insight, segmentation and modelling of customer behaviour
  • Develop proposals on Champion/Challenges strategies, optimisation of credit strategies from cost/benefit perspective and responsible lending.
  • Use data driven insights to identify opportunities to grow both new and further lending business profitably
  • Support financial planning and forecasting with key inputs for forecasting and scenario planning
  • Build and monitor models using Excel/SQL/SAS to enable business decision related to acquisitions, cut offs and further lending
  • Work simultaneously on ad-hoc as well as longer term projects designed to provide customer insight which can be actioned upon
  • Automate models and processes as appropriate to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Review current processes and policies and use findings to propose enhancements as appropriate
  • Managing our Risks:
  • Work alongside the internal teams to ensure the implementation of appropriate governance and risk frameworks aligned to best practice and regulatory obligations
  • Support Analytics Manager in defining appropriate strategies for both new business and further such that profitability is maximised and losses are minimised
  • Ensure that strategies and relevant changes are fully documented
  • Identifying and logging business/ operational risks
  • Complying with policies, procedures and external regulatory frameworks and ensuring that the principles of responsible lending are upheld in line with our Treating Customers Fairly guidelines
  • About You:We would like you to have skills and experience in some of the following:
  • Has 2+ years of experience in a major digital or financial services organization with demonstrated track record of delivery in channel analytics, marketing analytics and/or risk analytics
  • Highly numerate with the ability to interpret MI and financial data
  • Expert in analytical tools like Excel, SQL/SAS
  • Strong commercial understanding and business acumen
  • Ability to recognise an issue or opportunity and propose a range of solutions
  • Sound judgement and ability to operate independently and objectively
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate and influence technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in an organisation
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of data architecture, modelling techniques, consumer behaviour patterns and the key drivers of marketing or credit performance optimization
  • Highly numerate with the ability to interpret MI and financial data with in depth understanding of model building
  • Ability to translate complex data and analysis to non-subject matter experts to gain understanding and buy in.
  • Expert in analytical tools like Excel, SAS/SQL
  • Understand the requirements of an FCA regulated business

  • Experience with the use of non-traditional data sources for underwriting and analytics
