Job Description

Role: Security (SIA) TutorLocation: BradfordReporting to: Skills ManagerSalary: Up to £36kMain Purpose: To deliver innovative, engaging, and motivational learning sessions to our learners which will develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours and support them with their longer-term goals and career aspirations.Key Responsibilities: Working in a classroom environment you will be expected to facilitate the effective and efficient learning and assessment of unemployed learners undertaking the SIA Security Qualification, Customer Service and Employability qualifications. You must be fullyqualified to level 4 to deliver the SIA qualification in line with new legislation and hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. You will also hold a relevant teaching qualification such as PTTLS.Act as a personal tutor/mentor to groups of learners to train, review, monitor and assess learners. Provide prompt and constructive feedback to learners as soon as possible after any assessment.Maintain learners individual files and tracking documents/registers ensuring assessments are completed to the required standards and Co-operate with the Quality Assurance Manager to carry out Internal Verification as required.Support the development of this area of curriculum provision. Make sure that assessment strategies used are inclusive (regardless of gender, age, origin, etc.) and are fair, reliable, current, valid maintaining consistency in assessment decisions. PromoteBritish Values and Prevent to service users.The role will involve the successful candidate progressing cohorts of learners through Employability and Customer Service level 2 qualifications culminating in the learners progressing onto the SIA security qualification where they will undertake all relevantexaminations and achieve their badge enabling them to secure employment in the security sector.This is a rewarding role allowing the successful candidate to work with cohorts of learners for several weeks at a time, progressing them successfully through several qualifications resulting in them achieving their SIA badge and increasing their chancesof securing employment.Person Specification:

  • To deliver Security courses which will also support learners to develop their Employability and Personal Social Development skills to move them nearer to the local labour market.
  • Ensure that Initial assessment and information and advice are robust and support the individual learner plan and needs.
  • Deliver innovative, engaging and motivating training sessions to our learners with the objective to support them into secure sustainable work.
  • Sessions will be well planned and should develop the learners skills, knowledge and behaviours.
  • To embed throughout the learner journey, E&D, Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values.
  • To ensure the marking of work and assessment are completed in a timely manner and that this is then given in both written and verbal developmental feedback to your learners.
  • To keep your line manager regularly updated on course progression and supply information as required to them.
  • To keep timely and accurate records of the learner journey through the relevant systems, including attendance, engagement and outcomes.
  • To ensure that learner evaluative feedback is collected and recorded after each session and reviewed to support continuous improvement.
  • To keep abreast of developments within teaching and learning and ensure that you are updating your own CPD to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Attend meetings as and when required, including Standardisation; Team Meetings
  • Complete all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Essential Criteria
  • Level 3 Teaching Qualification
  • Functional Skills Level 2
  • Substantial industry experience in subject area or able to evidence a good working knowledge
  • Must have Literacy & Numeracy qualifications at Level 1 or above
  • Must have a good knowledge of IT based systems
  • Must have experience of coaching/mentoring people with mixed abilities
  • Must have substantial occupational competence in the security sector
  • Must be qualified to SIA level 4
  • Must hold Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
  • Safeguarding, Prevent Awareness and E&D Training
  • Able to display a wide range of teaching methods to engage learners from all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including learners with significant barriers to employment and training
  • Driven to deliver the best employer/industry led skills training and willingness to understand employer or industry requirements
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, with a flexible and innovative approach to work.
  • Committed to continuous improvement of own skills and development
  • Experience of working with learners with various complex learner needs
