Job Description

� Join Our Compassionate Team as a Pastoral Support Worker! �Job Title: Pastoral Support WorkerLocation: Bradford, West YorkshireWorking Hours: Monday - Friday (8:30am-3:30pm)Salary: £85 - £110 per dayVeritas Education are working with an Alternative Provision in Bradford who are seeking a Pastoral Support Worker. This position is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals withinthe community. You will be supporting secondary aged students with Special educational Needs (SEN), challenging behaviours and educational learning needs.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, offering a compassionate ear and helping them develop coping strategies for their social and emotional and mental health needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement effective behaviour management strategies, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with special requirements, collaborating with parents, teachers, and external agencies to create personalised support plans.
  • Build strong relationships with students and the teaching team.
  • Encourage and support students in developing life skills and independence, fostering a sense of confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support students with their educational and individual needs.
  • Be confident with de-escalating and managing challenging behaviours.
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting students and/or adults with Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health is essential.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role or educational setting is essential.
  • A genuine passion for working with secondary-aged students with special needs and mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in pastoral care, counselling, or special education are highly desirable.
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
