Job Description

SEND Preparing for Adulthood Senior OfficerBracknell Forest£300/dayKey Objectives of the role* To lead on Preparation for Adulthood policy and practice for the council liaising withschools, colleges and partners to ensure that young people with SEND have appropriatepathways into employment, education or training Post 16.* To ensure that phase transfer process for Year 11 pupils is effective by reviewing thedestinations for young people and reviewing the policy accordingly.* To work in partnership with the Council Elevate team to support pupils with SEND thatare identified at risk of Not being in Employment, Education or Training [NEET].* To provide information and advice to the new SEND Employment Forum to raise theprofile of the local authority supported internship programme, including acting as the firstpoint of contact for the National Development Team for Inclusion.* To be an integral part of the SEND and Specialist Support Services team workingcollaboratively with colleagues across all departments and with partners to contributetowards taking forward the vision, transformation and strategic direction of the councilsLearning and Achievement and SEND Strategies for children and young people 0-25,and those with other additional learning needs, establishing a clear focus on outcomes* To undertake training and constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars andother events designed to improve communication and assist with the effectivedevelopment of the post and post holder* To comply with the councils Code of Conduct and Core Values and to ensure that staffare working and managed in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Core Values.* Ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with safeguardingrequirements, the Data Protection Act and other legislation* At all times carrying out responsibilities/duties within the framework of the councilsDignity for all Policy (Equal Opportunities Policy)To ensure that all customers both internal and external, receive a consistently high qualitylevel of service, commensurate to the standards required by Bracknell Forest Council Scope of role1. To undertake SEND casework and the EHC plan process ensuring that it is in linewith the legislative framework and reflects all relevant legislation relating to SEND2. To promote safeguarding and follow all robust policies and procedures to safeguardchildren and vulnerable adults3. Monitoring placements, attending annual and transition reviews as necessary toensure that the pupils needs are met, the Local Authority is receiving value formoney and to take responsibility to involve other professionals. This may includeacting as Lead Professional/Officer4. Working with SEND officers to ensure that all paperwork produced for SEND panelsis accurate and contains up to date information required to ensure that decisions canbe made swiftly5. To participate in regular operational management meetings as required acrossBracknell Forest and partner agencies6. Ensuring that the planning process for 14+ Transition is in place and reviewed, andidentify and promote good practice in Children and Adult Social Care in relation tocommissioning of childrens and adult care packages by Adult Social Care andFrimley ICS7. To ensure the voices of children, young people and their parents/carers areappropriately reflected in in service delivery.Skills and qualifications* Educated to degree level or equivalent and evidence of continuous professional development.* Able to work flexibly and effectively in a busy and demanding environment* Resilient and solution focused when facing challenges* Resilient in complex situations and be able to manage their own wellness* Leadership of a highperforming team under pressure* Effective communicator, who will successfully present complex information, including clear and concise reports to managers and partnership groups* Reacts positively to change* Improvement-focused, and able contribute to visionary thinkingCompetence Summary* Demonstrable ability to manage complex budgets* Proven ability to drive performance management and continuous improvement* Experience of driving continuous improvement through analysing data and applying insights* Proven experience of managing complex datasets* Experience of working with SEN children, implementing the Code of Practice 2014* Proven experience of managing systems, and developing and implementing best practice in relation to systems utilisationWork-related Personal Requirements* Commitment to ongoing personal development and training in order to maintainan up to date knowledge of SEN legislation and practice, and to develop skills in ICT and other areas* The post holder must hold a full UK driving licence (or valid equivalent).
