Job Description

The roleAn ideal role for a highly ambitious individual early in their career or wanting to start a career in Finance.This is a varied role where the Trainee will be required to assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of timely month end management accounts, KPI’s and supporting schedules to ensure agreed reporting deadlines are met.This position will also be required to support the Ledger team processing purchase and sales invoices and to assist with query resolution, as required.Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of month end management accounts and supporting schedules in a timely manner sufficient to comply with internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Assist with posting and calculating month end journals, including the payroll, prepayments and accrual journals.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations of key control accounts including bank reconciliations ensuring any differences are followed up and investigated in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and related filings.
  • Preparation of the weekly GBP supplier payments in the bank system and bank allocations.
  • Assist with the month end intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist the Ledger Controller with any KPI reporting as required
  • Assist with processing and allocating credit card expenses and production of the monthly Corporate Credit Card reconciliations.
  • Assist with raising sales ledger invoices and credit notes and entering onto NAV / Sage 50 in a timely an accurate manner.
  • Assist with processing of purchase ledger service invoices and credit notes (GBP and EUR) onto NAV / Sage 50 (Accounting system) in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with reconciling supplier statements and liaising with suppliers for resolution of any discrepancies accordingly.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller and Finance Manager with the Group and subsidiaries’ year end audit; gathering information and documentation as requested.
  • Identify and make recommendations for process improvements to drive efficiencies as required
  • Actively participate in any ad-hoc finance project work streams as required
  • General office duties such as filing and answering incoming telephone calls and to undertake any other general duties reasonably requested by the management team
  • Being compliant with policies and procedures and being an exemplar ensuring all Company, production, rules, regulations and safe working practices are followed and adhered to
Criteria
  • Confident and polite communicator; good organisation skills and able to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail
  • Previous experienced with production and ERP systems, preferably Sage 50 /Navision is advantageous
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and create their work schedules
  • Excellent troubleshooting, creative and technical problem-solving skills
  • Willing to roll sleeves up and get things done
