Job Title: Apprentice- Maintenance and Operations Engineering TechnicianLocation: Bordon, HampshireWorking Week: 39 hours per week: Monday - Thursday, 8:00- 17:00 Friday, 8:0016:00Salary:Up to £15000 per annumApprenticeship Qualification:L3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Standard.L3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering [Electrical/Electronic]Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 36 monthsWe, at Serco, are looking for a Apprentice- Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician. This exciting role will involve configuration and real time operation of a variety of satellite ground and communication systems including performance of routinemaintenance, system checks and tests and fault troubleshooting / rectification.Serco has a strong commitment to apprentices and training and as a successful Serco apprentice, you will be provided with unparalleled support throughout the duration of your programme.About:The role for which the Apprentice will receive on-site training is for configuration and real time operation of a variety of satellite ground and communication systems including performance of routine maintenance, system checks and tests, and fault troubleshooting/ rectification. This involves working as part of a shift team on a rotating shift pattern designed to provide round the clock, flawless, uninterrupted satellite support.

  • Maintain routine daily operation of the Communications area.
  • Assist with planning and completion of equipment maintenance activities within the Operations area.
  • Loading of archival system with tapes, configure machine parameters, monitor during support, unload and complete documentation.
  • Support Operations Technicians during fault finding activities.
  • Document all maintenance activity as required.
  • Maintain an understanding of Safety Risk and Compliance regulations appropriate to area.
  • Be assigned by the duty Shift Supervisor to support and administer Real Time Satellite Operations as an Operator on console.
About you:We are looking for someone with a good level of IT capability, as well as, practical hands on ability. We must be able to work to deadlines and want to develop into a technical career. Youll have a can do attitude, while being enthusiastic, hardworking,reliable and determined.You MUST have Four GCSEs or acceptable equivalent as follows: Maths Grade B or above, English and a Science subject grade AC, An additional GCSE Grade ACThings to consider:You must be able to travel to TCS Oakhanger in Bordon, Hampshire and arrive on time for work on a daily basis.Please note this role is rural based and is not serviced by buses / trains.You will be expected to travel to a local College on day release.You must not be colour blindproof will be required that you are at least Colour Perception (CP) 2 (obtainable from any Optician).All shortlisted applicants will also need to complete an on-line initial assessment, which will help us guide you to the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.You will need to gain security clearance to work on this site which means that you will have to be a UK National and have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.#sercoapAbout Serco At Serco, not only is the nature of the work we do important, everyone has an important role to play, from caring for vulnerable people to managing complex public services.
