Job Description

Transport & Scheduling ManagerLocation: Blantyre, G72 0ND.Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.Contract: Full time, permanent. You will be required to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 5.00pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.Formed in 1987 we have grown over the past 35 years to establish ourselves as the UKs leading Independent Service Provider in the repair, maintenance, refurbishment and logistics on all Supermarket shopping trolleys, mobility and handling equipment: - avery specialist service and critical in the safety of all UK customers and children who usethis equipment every day.This, coupled with our bespoke trolley retrieval collection service which targets known hotspots of abandoned trolleys in local areas, waterways, parks and communities, thereby repatriating serviceable assets back into stores & mitigating environmental impact.With our Head Office in Blantyre Glasgow, and a depot in Altham, Lancashire, we offer a true UK wide service coverage - with unrivalled response times and market leading systems and service levelsAbout the RoleWe are looking for a new Transport & Scheduling Manager to ensure the efficient running of the Transport department, overseeing vehicle and driver compliance and proficient use of transport resources.This role will suit an individual who has extensive Transport Management experience, is solutions driven and commercially focused with exemplary interpersonal skills and has the ability to communicate across all levels of management within the business.This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and driven individual. This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged and the range of duties and responsibilities to be undertaken. It does notattempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals. The post holder will be required at all times to perform any other reasonable task, as requested by the Line Manager in order to meetthe operational needs of the business.Main Duties and Responsibilities (This list is not exhaustive and other areas of responsibility may be included) Scheduling/planning routes whilst ensuring the fleet is compliant by monitoring all safety checks/inspections, vehicles are properly maintained, safely and profitability. Downloading, analysing and flagging up any issues with digital card reports/information. Out of hours - respond to urgent emails or other urgent operational requests out hours/over the weekend. This includes vehicle breakdowns or vandalism/theft/break-ins. Van weighing. Tax - ensuring that the Transport Management Database is up to date at all times and taxing all TMS company vehicles when required. MOT - ensuring the Transport Management Database up to date at all times and MOT all TMS company vehicles when required. Service - ensuring the Transport Management Database up to date at all times and all TMS company vehicles are serviced when required. Parking notices - ensuring all parking notices are investigated and dealt with on time. Fuel cards management/resource - ensuring the Transport Management Database up to date at all times and ensuring all vehicles are issued with fuel cards. Fuel Accounts/Investigation & Renewal - must complete a project at least once a year to ensure the company is being offered the best possible rates/deals. TMS Invoices - check all transport invoices and to contact suppliers and resolve any issues with overcharges or incorrect information. Daily Defect Checks - must be checked as per the TMS transport database. Tail lift LOLER inspections - ensuring the Transport Management Database up to date at all times and ensuring all Loler inspections are completed as and when required. Ensuring the Transport Management Database up to date at all times and ensuring all 8-week inspections are completed on time. Vehicle cleanliness checks - to be carried out every Friday/Saturday at Glasgow and at Accrington/Luton every 4 months as per the TMS Transport Database. Vehicle damage log. Vehicle safety equipment/extinguisher, first aid, eye wash, accident book - ensure each vehicle has the correct equipment and purchase stock if required.Pay & Benefits 29 days annual leave entitlement per holiday year, inclusive of bank holidays, with length of service holiday accrual.
