Managing Quantity Surveyor - Power2x sites based between Glasgow and EdinburghUp to £60,000 + Car allowanceSF33223About the roleFor more than a century, Babcock, the Engineering and Defence Company, has been trusted to deliver bespoke, highly-skilled engineering services across a multitude of industries. We help customers in the UK and around the world to improve the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets within our four market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear, underpinned by a deep understanding of technology integration, unique infrastructure, and specialist training.Using your experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor you will lead on commercial matters across large scale power transmission schemes UK wide. You will be responsible for managing all internal reporting and activity of Quantity Surveyors and responsibility of managing the project commercially. Also the role will entail ongoing implementation of the commercial application in respect of site personnel at all-time whilst developing lasting relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers. We are looking for a commercial minded professional who will liaise with the Commercial Manager and wider team to ensure appropriate commercial cover is maintained.The initial projects will be large complex power transmission renewal schemes with value in excess of £30M. As well as working on some of the most high-profile projects in the UK we also offer a supportive work environment where innovation is at the heart of what we do.What do I need to do the roleYoull need to have experience in a Quantity Surveying position and have experience within highly regulated projects i.e Rail, Infrastructure, Power, Construction etc.Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:• Relevant qualification in Surveying• Understanding of contract law & contract costing• Experience of Sub Contract management• Driving licence• Ability to be flexible with working awayLastly, youll need to be able to deploy good communication and influencing skills as youll work closely with the client and our internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies.What else do I need to knowYou will be based on site permanently in the North West of Scotland. There will be a requirement to visit the Power head office in Nottingham very occasionally.We are happy to talk about flexible working.
