Job Description

Our mission is simple… to help the world Love Mondays.Every week, thousands of people across the UK start a new job – and it’s our job to help them get there.REED is a specialist provider of permanent, contract, temporary and outsourced recruitment solutionsWe require a Document Reader / File Preparation Officer to cover an existing workload within Lancashire Constabulary, based in Blackburn.This is an interim position initially for 3-6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.Role Purpose:

  • To provide leadership, and investigative expertise to prevent and investigate Major Crime throughout Lancashire.
  • Perform the role of Document Reader/File Prep Officer within Major Incident Rooms (MIRs).
  • To deliver professional, efficient and effective case file preparation of homicide & complex cases.
  • Support the FMIT officers by assuming responsibility for the prosecution file whilst providing advice and assistance on matters relating to the preparation of prosecution files.
  • The knowledge and skills required in the role:
  • Proven track record as an investigator with experience of working on major investigations
  • Experience of working on major investigations utilising Holmes 2
  • Experience of managing and leading a team
  • Knowledge of the procedural details in the Murder Investigation Manual (MIM) and the Major Incident Room Standard Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP)
  • Experience of producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience of working to deadlines and tight timescales, within a busy environment
  • Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload
  • Experience of assessing and identifying relevant information, making accurate decisions and taking appropriate action
  • Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions.
  • Experience in a variety of detective roles and sound knowledge of investigative techniques. Including up to date knowledge of RIPA, POCA and disclosure legislation.
  • Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality using tact and diplomacy where applicable
  • Experience of delivering briefings to wide range of audiences.
  • Experience of communicating across a wide spectrum of people both individuals and groups
  • Experience of interpreting complex rules and regulations and identifying options
