Job Description

Maths Teacher / Head of Year who is QTS qualified, has a genuine passion for lifelong learning and has excellent organisational and IT skills is required for a Secondary School which is part of a School Trust, based in Bishop’s Stortford.SALARY: MPS1 - MPS6 (TLR for Head of Year) + Generous Benefits (see below)LOCATION: Bishop’s Stortford, HertfordshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time will also be considered for the right candidate)JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Maths Teacher / Head of Year who is QTS qualified, has a genuine passion for lifelong learning and has excellent organisational and IT skills.The Maths Teacher / Head of Year will be passionate about teaching to the highest standard, committed to maintaining a healthy, comfortable environment, and can develop their practice in the school’s faculty.As the Maths Teacher / Head of Year you will join the Secondary School in encouraging students to value self, others and the environment, empowering themselves to be effective learners as well as good and responsible citizens.DUTIESYour duties as a Maths Teacher / Head of Year will include:

  • Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach
  • Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
  • Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn
  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; EAL; disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English
  • Set homework, in line with school policy, and plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding pupils have acquired as appropriate
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualified to bachelor’s degree level in relevant subject or allied subject
  • QTS qualified
  • Genuine passion for lifelong learning
  • A belief in the unique potential of every student
  • Able to self-start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team whether led or leading
  • Shows initiative and takes personal responsibility for their own actions with the motivation to work very hard, embrace any activity that is in the interests of protecting and education children and to continually raise standards. Can initiate, completeand finish; be effectively strategic and where appropriate, innovative
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
