Job Description

Are you a graduate looking to launch your career Would you like to join a large charity who support young people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties (autism / ADHD) to thrive in the world of workPlease note: This is a part time role at 16 hours weeklyYou MUST have access to your own car as this role requires outreach in the Greater Birmingham Area.You MUST have and be able to present GCSE certificates in Maths and English - this is essential for the roleThe charity delivers a supported internship programme. Young people study employability & life skills whilst imbedding English and Maths on the course. As part of this, they will be allocated an employer to go on a work placement with. Your role will varyday to day, but could include:

  • Supporting the young person to plan their journey to work so they can become independent
  • Attending work with them, working closely with employers to provide support as needed
  • Help the young person apply for paid work with CV writing, job applications and interview preparation
  • End of day calls with the young person and employer to check on progress
  • Liaising closely with the tutor around potential extra support needs
You will have a caseload of 56 young people and you will be making a huge difference in their lives.To apply, you might be a recent graduate in a related degree such as psychology. Or you might have experience of working with young people with support needs, so could have worked as a tutor, teacher or learning support assistant or teaching assistant.
