Job Description

Company overviewCallan Connect is a Civil Engineering company based in Aston, Birmingham, specialising in the Telecommunications industry. Our collaborativeapproach means we get the job done, on time and to budget and our business partners trust us to deliver.Salary: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per yearRole: Callan Connect are currently recruiting for an experienced CPC qualified Transport/Plant Manager to join our busy team to oversee the fleet maintenance of our growing company. This role is full time and on a permanant basis.The successful candidate will be responsible for all fleet vehicles within the business. The position further involves being the nominated Transport Manager for the companys O licence.Key responsibilities include:

  • Day to day running of the Company fleet
  • Oversight, management and planning of transportation repairs
  • Handling defect reports and remedial repairs as required.
  • Keep up to date on changes in standards and legislation
  • Management of maintenance and inspection schedules for fleet, other company vehicles (inclusive of MOTs and O licence)
  • Ensure drivers are adequately trained and competent to operate all relevant vehicles and equipment.
  • Take appropriate action including disciplinary in event of driver infringements and faults.
  • Handling the requirements of the Operators licence.
  • Managing some aspects relating to drivers as required, e.g. drivers hours, tachograph and working time directive, monitoring licence and CPC card checks.
  • Ensure records are retained for the purpose of the Working Time Directive (WTD)
  • Recording and storage of all vehicle maintenance records for at least 15 months
  • Managing the O licence and ensure changes are reflected in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring O licence agreed maintenance regulations are adhered to.
  • Investigating accidents or incidents, including insurance claims
  • Providing Management (MI) reports
Essential requirements:
  • Planning and supervising abilities to handle skilled and semi-skilled workers.
  • Hold a current certificate of professional competence (CPC) gained by examination
  • Holder of a Full UK Driving Licence
  • Hands on practical experience of all transport activities with working knowledge of current transport legislation
  • Detailed knowledge of DVSA regulatory requirements regarding O Licences and Fleet management activities in general
  • Good ability in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communicator
  • Reliable, conscientious and co-operative
  • Ability to lead a team, work on own initiative and deliver key objectives
  • Previous fleet management role.
  • Strong influencer and decision maker
Experience:
  • Transportation Management: 3 years (Preferred)

  • CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) (Required)
