Mercia Group is one of them!Mercia Group is one of the leading providers of training and support services to the UK accountancy profession, working with over 8000 firms nationwide.Main Purpose of Role (Accounting Technical Consultant / Author)You will be working in our small but perfectly formed team of technical authors who are custodians / editors of a number of technical accounting manuals. You will be ensuring these manual are high quality, practical, up to date at all times. The manuals covera variety of technical areas including:- auditing and ethical standards;- UK and international accounting standards;- specialist sectors such as charities, pension schemes or solicitors;- practice assurance and other compliance areas such as client money and anti-money laundering.We dont expect you to be an expert on every technical area however, you will need to be Chartered or Certified ACCA with a number of years practical experience in an Audit senior / Audit Manager role or similar within a large to medium sized accounting firmto have had the exposure we need for you to be at the technical level required to perform in the role.You will work closely with and support our Product team including contributing to the technical, client and competitor intelligence used to make Product decisions and liaising with the Product Director and Managers when updating or creating a product toensure that client needs are met and product solutions can be iterated to our Sales and Marketing teams.You will also occasionally support our Sales and Marketing team by representing your technical field in client meetings with account managers if requested. Bring the account managers in or cross-refer to them where clients you are working with are potentiallyinterested in additional Mercia products and services. Supply clear and compelling technical materials for marketing and website purposes if requested.If this sounds like something you do and would enjoy doing, why not submit an application.Skills and Experience Required (Accounting Technical Consultant / Author)- Chartered or Certified ACCA/ACA (or equivalent) with excellent technical knowledge in the field of audit and accounts and compliance, and the ability to grasp changes and have the required skill to translate knowledge into written practical guidance to meetthe needs of those performing an audit across different situations.- The ability to undertake a high degree of research to stay abreast of the changing regulations.- Excellent commercial awareness of the UK accounting profession.- Professionally qualified to ACA standard or equivalent with sufficient post qualified experience.- Experience in producing technical guides or manuals within the accountancy profession.- Ability to apply technical knowledge clearly and practically to a range of client firms and situations.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and above-average competency with the English Language to take on complex writing assignments.
