Specialist Employment Support Officer | Solihull, West Midlands | Full Time | £21,572£24,365 per annumFTEdepending on skills and experienceOur client is a user-led registered charity and social enterprise working to make life better for disabled, elderly and vulnerable people and their carers.The team are proud to be a user-led organisation with an active membership of nearly 3,500 individuals who are heard, engaged, and represented in the organisations vision, values, and principles and in the way they co-design and deliver services to meettheir needs.In this role, you will provide a personalised support service which provides disabled and disadvantaged clients with the skills, development, motivation and confidence to enable them to move into suitable sustainable employment and volunteering opportunities.This is a fixed term contract until the end 31st March 2025 (subject to funding and performance).Are you the right person for the jobThe following criteria are essential for the role

  • Experience in undertaking information, advice and guidance interviews
  • Relevant previous experience in the employment/recruitment/training field
  • A proven track record in placing clients into employment
  • Training Needs Analysis experience
  • Literacy and/or Numeracy level 2 or willing to work toward
  • Proficient in using IT and software packages, e.g., Microsoft packages, CRM and outcome tools, to support with record keeping and reports
  • Good understanding of the local and national labour market and employment issues.
  • Understanding of marketing and promotion approaches
  • Ability to encourage, persuade and motivate at all levels
  • Empathy and belief in the potential of disadvantaged and disabled people
  • Flexibility to cope with the varying demands of the role and achieve the desired results
  • Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to a variety of situations
  • Ability to manage and support a caseload and achieve targets for progression
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to develop and maintain excellent business links
What will your key tasks as a Specialist Employment Support Officer be
  • To undertake an initial and ongoing assessment of clients pre-employment support needs and formulate development action plans which will enable clients to achieve their goals
  • To manage, develop and support a caseload of clients, providing encouragement and coordination of activities including mentoring, development planning, effective monitoring and guidance and any employment-related training that will ensure progression toemployment, with an emphasis on the movement toward sustained unsupported employment where appropriate
  • To participate in case conferences with the employment and skills staff when appropriate and after clients are offered a position in order to ensure the client receives a smooth transition into employment
  • To liaise and communicate regularly with the referrer and other relevant staff to ensure that all parties are kept informed
  • To offer clients a range of courses including skills for life, volunteering, job skills and horticulture to enable them to gain the necessary skills, awareness, and support to access employment, education and community facilities and be able to make a positivecontribution in society.
  • To locate and support placement sessions for volunteers working within other organisations, as appropriate.
  • To produce reports as and when requested for internal monitoring/evaluation of the service etc.
  • To carry out scheduled reviews with the client and the employer, ensuring equality and diversity, contractual and legal obligations are met and providing relevant advice, guidance and support when required.
