Job Description

Storage and Backup EngineerRole: Storage and Backup Engineer Location: Birmingham Salary: £40,000-£45,000Industry: Data CentreClient:Concept IT are looking for a Storage and Backup Engineer to work for Europes leading provider if IT services and solutions in Birmingham. My client, due to a sustained period of growth, are looking to expand their IT team.Role: The Storage & Backup Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of the storage & backup infrastructure. To ensure all configuration items, architecture and associated documentation is completed to an adequate level toensure best standard is supplied to clients.Key Responsibilities Implement service improvements and changes to Customer IT architecture

  • Ensure all projects/ Works adhere to established standards and frameworks
  • Work Closely and in conjunction with Operational Support teams in the identification of Improvement opportunities
  • To provide proactive and preventative maintenance to customer IT services following industry best practice guidelines
  • Act as a technical escalation point for major incidents related to the service delivery from the datacentre and customer sites
  • Ensure technical documentation is completed to a professional standard
  • Contribute to the creation of document standards focussing on content, branding and quality
  • Support the process to ensure all Improvement works, changes and implementation are communicated to the team and customer where necessary
Technical Requirements The following technical competencies are desirable but not essential:Minimum 5 years experience providing support to enterprise level clients
  • Appropriate certifications or experience in core technology platforms
  • 2 or more Storage Technologies
  • 2 or more Backup Technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a verity of SAN, NAS, and tape technologies
  • HP 3PAR / EVA / MSA Storage Platforms
  • IBM SVC / V-Series Storage Platforms
  • EMC VNX
  • NetApp FAS
  • Storage Area Networks (Brocade/Cisco/Qlogic)
  • NetBackup
  • IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi-site and multi-disciplinary problems and incidents
  • Knowledge of data protection technologies, including deduplication, replication and encryption
  • Monitor and pro-actively identify any potential SAN performance issues
  • Review capacity and system performance data, predicting trends and potential issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders and customers
