Job Description

Closing Date: 24/10/2021 Are you a supreme content writer, interested in events and sport Fancy a new challenge Do you want to be part of the largest event ever in the West Midlands If you have the experience and drive to support the delivery of the Birmingham 2022 CommonwealthGames please read on!Birmingham 2022 is looking for an experienced Spectator Communications Manager to join the Event Services team. The Spectator Communications Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all spectator communications for the games. The role is responsiblefor bridging operational planning and marketing to inspire and inform the spectator with everything they need to know to make the most of their games experience. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the Events Services OperationsLeads across 14 competition venues to plan, collate and produce bespoke content for each venue and with Marketing and Ticketing to ensure that operational information is considered in all communications.The position will require the individual to be able to think and walk in the shoes of the spectator, to understand and distil all the information the spectator may need to know in an entertaining and functional format. The candidate should have strong relationshipbuilding skills, be a confident writer, comfortable working across digital, print and experiential elements, to develop effective and inspiring spectator event content. Responsibilities

  • Map, plan and deliver effective and tailored communications for each spectator group to support their individual on venue experience. Communication platforms include website content, app content, ticket holder emails, printable venue maps, on venue textmessages. (Social media is managed by the Communications team separately).
  • Collate all operational content and write inspiring sport/ venue focused content to ensure Spectators all fully equipped to make the most of their games experience. Content should excite and inform spectators, bringing together information from the keyfunctional areas of Sport, Transport, Security, Communications, Publications, Events Services, CGFP and Venue Management. Bring the information together into an inspiring format which includes maps and all the information that spectator needs to plan and enjoytheir day out.
  • Work with the training and workforce team to help them to produce engaging training content for the 4000 strong team of front of house staff. Specifically developing the story board to tell the games story through the volunteer programme, scripting inspiringinformation that the EVS staff can deliver direct to the spectators at all points along the customer journey on venue.
  • Work closely with ticketing to ensure they have the correct content related to venue-based FAQs and the information they need to accompany each phase of the ticketing process.
  • Create and maintain Games time Spectator FAQ content and detailed information packs for the information points.
  • Support the organisation in responding to Spectator enquiries at games time, coordinating between Headquarters and the Events Services teams on venues and answering spectator enquiries with accurate information.
  • Manage the creative agency to develop the artwork for on venue branding and spectator enhancements, creating a creative brief, producing copy and over seeing the design process

Skills and Experience RequiredEssential
  • Proven experience managing communication projects in major event environments on a large scale, at a high level.
  • Experience of working in a PR team at an event managing social media feeds across platforms.
  • Experience in creating staff manuals and spectator guides across multi-venues.
  • Prior experience in developing experiential activations, specifically designed to deliver social media engagement.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary organisation and to build active, cooperative partnerships with external organisations in an integrated manner.
