Job Description

Social Work Assistant needed - Kickstart your Social Work career!A Local Authority based in the West Midlands is seeking to appoint a number of Social Work Assistants within Childrens services to help provide support to the Social Workers in these areas.This is an excellent opportunity for those that are looking to gain valuable statutory experience within a childrens social work team and pursue a career within Social Work. This is especially significant for those who are aspiring to become Social Workersas the successful applicant will have the opportunity to take on a substantial position with the authority should you perform well for the duration of the assignment.Overview:

  • You will be working to support Social Workers with their caseloads in various areas of Childrens Services.
  • This is a locum post which offers the opportunity to develop statutory experience as well as the opportunity to take on a permanent post in the future.
  • The service helps support children and their families where there maybe a concern relating to the safety of the children/young person.
  • If you are looking to take a Social Work post in the future this will provide you with an excellent platform to do so as it will give you the experience required.
  • The team do direct work with children/young personswhich you will be a part of.
  • There is a great deal of flexibility with this post and you will have the opportunity to work from home once you have built up your skills on an agile basis.
Responsibilities:As a Social Work Assistant in the service, you will be expected:
  • To contact services users & families to introduce yourself/the service and be the face-to-face/Point of contact between the LA and the service user.
  • To be confident in using electronic systems (CHARMS, Eclipse, spreadsheets etc) to keep records up to date and be able to communicate with people using a variety of different methods.
  • To work alongside and communicate effectively with Social Workers and other professionals across the Trust including child care social workers, legal representatives, GPs and medical advisor.
  • To support social workers within the service to complete their visits and duties; this may include completing one to one sessions with service users etc.
As a Social Work Assistant within the team you will have get regular reflective supervisions and will be well supported by the Social Worker and the Team Manager.To be considered for this post you should have experience of working with children and families and be a car driver with access to a car.If you would like to have a catch up regarding this opportunity or wish to have a confidential chat then please get in touch with Liam Woods on .
