Job Description

This role in Birmingham requires a diligent Shift Manager who has a strong background in the warehouse and distribution industry, particularly within the logistics department. The candidate must be adept at ensuring the smooth operation of all daily activities,while proactively addressing any potential challenges.Client DetailsThe client is a leading entity in the UKs transport and distribution sector, employing over 17,500 personnel across more than 200 sites. With a focus on innovation, they strive to offer efficient and effective logistics solutions to meet their customersunique needs, while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.DescriptionThe role of Shift Manager in Birmingham will involve:

  • Overseeing daily operations and ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • A shift pattern of Monday to Thursday 6am to 6pm (Week 1), Tuesday to Friday 6pm to 6am (Week 2).
  • Or working nights Monday to Thursday 6pm to 6am (static shift).
  • Implementing strategies to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff members.
  • Coordinating with other departments to streamline operations.
  • Creating and managing staff schedules to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Handling any issues or disruptions that may arise during the shift.
  • Monitoring performance and providing training and support as needed.
  • Keeping accurate records and reporting on operation metrics.
ProfileA successful Shift Manager should have:
  • A solid understanding of transport and distribution operations.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in using logistics software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • A background in Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain
