Job Description

Job Title: Service Manager - Mental HealthHours of work: 37.5 hoursSalary: £34000Base: Birmingham (multi site to include on service, office and hybrid working model)The client:In partnership with an established, sector leading mental health charity, I am seeking a Service Manager to oversee the operational day to day management of pathway services, in conjunction with the NHS.You will work within a crisis focused service, offering support and guidance to people across Birmingham who are experiencing emotional and psychological distress.The Job:You will be leading and managing a number of teams that are all integrated with your NHS statutory partners. You will be responsible for maintaining standards and outcomes in line with contract and service level agreements with statutory partners requirements. As the service manager you will ensure there is a strong focus on outcome reporting and adherence to servicestandards. You will be supporting both staff and peer mentors to achieve the most from their roles and the resources provided; ensuring each of these services has a clear vision and provide high levels of quality delivery. You will be working in close liaison with our NHS clinical partners to help achieve successful inpatient discharge pathways, admission avoidance and social recovery interventions. To promote choice, self-determination, individual control and help to sustainindividuals within community settings including appropriate housing and accommodation options and community-based support.Key Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Support the individual staff and peer mentors to ensure that individual patients are well supported, that their support is recovery focused and underpinned by a person-centred approach
  • Ensure interventions provided by these services are designed to support patients of statutory services to maintain community links, including health and social care interventions, addressing individual hardship and the social determinants of poor mentalhealth such as housing, education, access to benefits, domestic violence, and financial hardship, unemployment.
  • Monitor activity and report against key performance indicators and outcomes in line with service level agreements and requirements from partner organisations.
  • You will monitor the standards of delivery through reports, audits and patient experience feedback.
  • You will provide a high level of line management leadership to each of the teams, encouraging continuous improvement and engagement through team meetings, service reviews, individual supervisions, and appraisals.
  • You will coordinate staff rotas and deployment across the individual service areas
  • You will lead on and respond quickly and appropriately, in line with guidance and policy, to any safeguarding concerns in accordance with legal requirements and regulations (e.g., safeguarding, contractual requirements, DoLs).
  • You will provide appropriate levels of support to resolve any conflict with our statutory partners and/or within the teams you directly manage.
  • You will play an active role in the attending clinical reviews with partner organisations
  • You will attend service managers meetings and engage fully with monthly supervision and appraisal of your performance by the designated Operations Managers
  • You will work within the parameters of your assigned budget
Skills & Experience requirements:
  • Proven managerial and leadership experience within the voluntary or charitable or health and social care sectors
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of mental health, wellbeing and recovery
  • Knowledge and commitment to the "recovery" model of mental health support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent IT skills
  • MDT and stakeholder collaboration and working experience
  • Proven budget management skills and experience
  • Flexibility to share on call responsibilities and work across varied settings
