Job Description

Senior Technical Designer - Solar PVLocation: Midlands or remote - Flexible/hybrid working availableClimate17 are working closely with a fast-growing business that specialise in the installation and ongoing operations and maintenance of large scale, integrated renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions within the commercial and industrial sectors.They are actively searching for a Senior Technical Designer for their Solar PV projects to develop bespoke Solar PV concepts as well as detailed design and implementation planning.Responsibilities

  • Designing both ground mount (c.5MW) and rooftop PV systems (Both DC and AC).
  • Designing within planning constraints and Flood Risk assessment constraints. Supporting planning applications with design drawings.
  • Evaluation and selection of suitable mounting system and modules.
  • Producing PV construction drawings
  • Review and amend the final site plans to ensure compliance with other design considerations such as planning and Structural Engineering
  • Support design activities and perform on site visits as necessary.
  • Undertake and manage yield assessment simulations for the early stage of projects.
  • Manage relationships and work with Technical Advisor on development sites but also ad hoc requirements.
  • Support of sales and purchasing with layout and technical issues in the offer
  • Support the project managers in the construction and implementation phases of the project
  • Close working with DNO, procurement, operations, legal, project development, project management and the subsidiaries
  • Preparation of as-built layouts and drawings package, technical documentation after completion of a project
  • Interact with Sales team and the rest of engineering disciplines to integrate specifications into the design concept.
Requirements
  • Degree educated in an Electrical or Mechanical disciple (Desirable)
  • 3+ years experienced in using PVSOL/ PVsyst/AutoCAD/Amtech
  • Very good understanding of LV and HV connections
  • Understanding Topography drawings, SLDs and Point of LV and HV connections, roadwork designs in solar farms, Geological studies and the deign from DC Modules all the way to LV/HV Point of connections.
  • Experience in undertaking Energy Yield Assessments.
  • Familiarity with the OS and Land registry maps and websites.
  • Be able to draw all findings such as SLDs or layouts on CAD, displaying excellent AutoCAD skills. Ability to setup and manage drawings, X-reference, blocks, etc.
  • Clean Driving license
