Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for a Senior Storage Systems Engineer to join an exciting, large IT Services business based in the UK. This role will be based remotely as a temporary project.Client DetailsThe Client: Our client is one the UKs largest tech companies, with their products sitting at the heart of some of the countrys best-known businesses. They have grown phenomenally quickly with a £275m turnover and 2,800 employees supporting over 25,000 customers.DescriptionKey Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Leadership: Design and implement storage solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate storage solutions into the existing infrastructure.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor storage performance, conduct regular assessments, and implement best practices for performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Problem Resolution: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for storage-related issues, collaborating with support teams to resolve incidents promptly.
  • Lifecycle & Capacity Planning: Contribute to Capex & Opex budgeting through effective lifecycle and capacity planning.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for storage configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • SOP Development: Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for storage-related tasks.
  • Compliance: Ensure storage systems adhere to security policies and industry regulations.
  • OOH and On-call Support: Participate in out-of-hours (OOH) activities and on-call rota as required for system continuity.
ProfileRequired Skills and Experience:
  • IBM Storage Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in IBM storage solutions.
  • Proficiency in Brocade FC enterprise switching devices: Proficient in configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting Fibre Channel networks.
  • Certification: Certification in IBM storage technologies is a plus.
  • Technical Acumen: In-depth knowledge of storage virtualization, provisioning, and optimization.
  • Enterprise Experience: Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-level storage environments.
  • Protocols: Strong knowledge of storage protocols, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attributes: Self-motivated, tenacious, disciplined, enthusiastic, and resilient.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding networking, presentation, and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to devise and implement strategies beneficial to Advanced.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
