Job Description

The Senior Insolvency cashier will work directly for the Cashier Manager, providing a dedicated, high level of cashiering support to our national cashiering team. This will involve working on a variety of insolvency engagements across the country. Ourcashiering function is a central team and this role offers hybrid working, with the expectation that team members will visit an office of their choice for 1-2 days per week. Some travel may be necessary from time to time to cover other offices subject to mutualagreement. Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring that all aspects of company policy and cashiering guidance is adhered to.
  • Completing statutory and best practice actions promptly.
  • Liaising with our banking contacts to facilitate prompt account opening and closing requests.
  • Assisting with queries from the wider restructuring team relating to receipts and payments.
  • Ensuring that all electronic payment transactions are completed accurately.
  • Reconciling bank accounts within the given timelines, dealing with unreconciled items promptly.
  • Providing support to the Cashier Manager, participating in discussions on the development and improvement of cashiering processes.
  • Attending to any other administrative tasks required by the role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key tasks:
  • Being one of the first points of contact for engagement teams with cashiering related queries.
  • Ensuring cheques received are recorded, banked and input onto IPS (the Insolvency Practitioners System) within the timescales set out in the firms cash procedures.
  • Importing and processing bank transaction files, including the monitoring and prompt management of automated transactions.
  • Producing and processing ISA, CHAPS and faster payment requests.
  • Printing of cheques including distributions.
  • Ensuring all transactions have the correct backing documentation and are coded correctly.
  • Ensuring transactions are accurate and managed in a timely fashion, liaising with engagement teams where necessary.
  • Proactively managing caseloads to avoid issues. Where applicable, troubleshoot with the relevant engagement leaders and managers.
  • Ensuring that estate bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and bank accounts are promptly closed, as required.
  • Identifying balances that may benefit from higher interest rates if placed on deposit and liaising with the engagement manager.
  • Archiving IPS cases, ensuring all compliance tasks have been undertaken.
  • Liaising with banks and building relationships.
Requirements
  • Recent demonstrable experience of insolvency cashiering using IPS.
  • A willingness to learn quickly and operate as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organisational skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Able to prioritise tasks effectively and respond to changes in workload and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The confidence and ability to challenge senior staff where required.
