Job Description

Our Client, a well-established Construction Company based in Birmingham are looking for a Senior Finance Assistant to join their busy team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in Sales Ledger / Credit control who is looking to develop their career within Accounts.The primary responsibility of the role will be Sales Ledger, however there is opportunity to develop the position moving forward for the right person to include; month end, management accounts, forecasting, CIS and PAYE.Starting salary of £31,000 will be offered , may be flexible depending on experience, plus Company bonus scheme paid 3 times per year.Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Check bank daily, updating cash in spreadsheet
  • Post sales cash against sales invoices
  • Chase clients for monies, dealing with queries
  • Raise and post sales invoices/applications for payments
  • Raise retention applications
  • Update outstanding monies and retention spreadsheets
  • Save and reconcile retention reports to match trial balance
  • Reconcile aged debtor reports against outstanding monies spreadsheet
  • Prepare and save Cashflow Forecast and plot bank balance graph
  • Month end Analysis on Jobs to invoice list before month end
  • Update good/bad payers’ spreadsheet with payment details
  • Run and analyse credit checks to provide information on potential new clients
  • Reconcile and clear intercompany balance at the end of the month
  • Occasionally assist with onboarding process of new clients by registering to portals
  • Complete forms and fill in finance information to set Company up on client account systems
  • Participate in meetings with Finance Manager and Director to update on monies coming in
  • Save remittances for payments due to come in
The ideal candidate will have:-
  • Relevant Finance / Accountancy experience.
  • Experience with Sales Ledger / Credit control.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • AAT or similar qualification (desirable but not essential.)
  • A bright and bubbly personality.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A hands on approach, with a willingness to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A desire to join a Company on a long term basis.
  • Benefits to include:-
  • Competitive starting salary £28,000- £31,000 depending on experience. May be flexible beyond this for the right person.
  • Company bonus scheme paid 3 times per year, depending on hard work, effort and Company performance.
