Job Description

Red Snapper Justice are part of a niche recruitment agency, who provide staffing services to the offender management and criminal justice sectors.We are recruiting on behalf of our Birmingham based client looking for a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner to work in various locations around Birmingham. The post holder will be responsible for having the autonomy to risk assess, manage and respond sufficientlyand effectively to DA cases within a local authority co located setting. Providing expert guidance and support to social care staff in that of both guided interventions and brief interventions directly to complex cases.This role is a full time role, which may include working evenings and weekends on a fixed term contract ending March 2022.The salary offered is £29,000.Main Duties:

  • Work to deliver the guided intervention model and brief interventions for DA as a requirement of the service expectations.
  • Co locate with local authority areas as part of a multi-agency setting and response to domestic abuse.
  • Provide specialist expert advice and guidance in relation to complex DA cases encouraging safe and alternate approaches to working with perpetrators.
  • Effectively understand and implement institutional advocacy by pro socially challenging partner agencies acknowledging best practice and striving for change to benefit the individual, the service and the sector as a whole.
  • Comply with child protection, child and adult safeguarding, and information sharing policies, ensuring that service users and colleagues understand and comply with the services safeguarding framework.
  • Work closely with professionals to ensure risk assessment, management and safeguarding requirements are effectively planned, assessed responded to and met.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, voluntary and private agencies in response to domestic abuse.
  • Provide feedback in respect of assessments and work undertaken to the manager within local authority agency.
  • Manage and challenge emotive and volatile situations within settings of assessments, 1-1 work, conferences etc. This will include at times the requirement to undertake joint visits in respect of a family.
Essential Requirements:
  • Recognised qualification / relevant field experience in counselling and or psychotherapy / psychology, health and social care setting, or domestic abuse services.
  • Relevant professional social care qualification (e.g. CQSW, CIOH, RMN)
  • QCF in Health and Social Care
  • Significant understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on men women and children / young people.
  • An understanding of the need to work as a part of a multiagency approach to domestic abuse and offering reflective integrated services for both perpetrators and victims and survivors.
  • Significant understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • Substantial experience in managing caseloads.
  • Three years of relevant experience of working with perpetrators and or victims of domestic abuse.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of statutory childrens social care roles, thresholds, practices and knowledge of the Childrens Act.
  • Confidence to undertake direct contact and support others to do so with perpetrators and victims / survivors of abuse.
