Senior DeveloperA powerhouse within the pensions advice and wealth management industry is looking for a Senior Developer to join their team in Birmingham on a permanent basis, with the option to work remotely 2-3 days each week.The Senior Developer will help to drive and manage the companys modern development practices. This role is a critical part of their digital journey and will ensure that the companys extensive digital expansion is completed in an effective and efficientmanner.The role will report into the Applications and Development Manager and will be a key part of the Technology team. The role will spend significant time working closely with the Technology Leadership Team and the Digital Team. The role will also work withdevelopment suppliers to ensure a consistency of development approach.Role and Responsibilities

• Support the creation of development strategy with a particular focus on near continuous deployments and the use of a platform approach built on modern development & dev-ops techniques.
• Work with the wider Technology and Digital teams to design and implement processes and procedures relating to development.
• Manage and support a Development Apprentice and assist with any future development recruitment.
• Assist with the implementation of an automated testing approach to speed up delivery and ensure development quality is of a high standard.
• Work with the wider business to understand and deliver their digital requirements in the most effective manner.
• Work with the Head of IT Operations to build an effective production deployment process.
• Implement reporting mechanisms for development progress against key KPIs.
• Work with stakeholders from across the company to understand requirements of digital solutions.
• Develop development processes in line with the wider group governance framework to ensure a consistent format and approach.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the wider Technology team to develop and enhance understanding of modern development techniques.
• Participate in CAB to ensure effective governance of changes being deployed to production systems.
• Ensure development processes support the companys ISO27001 certification and are built with security considerations as a key element.
• Own and manage relevant development related suppliers to ensure the service they are providing is delivered to the agreed standards

Experience and Competencies Required

• Management of internal and external development teams
• Extensive experience and knowledge of modern development processes.
• Experience in the use of DevOps to drive a culture of near continuous deployment
• Experience in managing a range of suppliers.
• Robust project management experience.
• Management of key stakeholders at all levels in a typical corporate environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Tech Stack

• Microsoft Azure components from an architecture piece.
• Data platform code built on python and Microsoft ETL tools
• New applications are being development in React FE with PHP Laurel BE
• PostgreSQL database
• Github and circle CI used for development.
• Legacy applications are .net and SQL backend

Devops tools

• TDD for BE and FE code connected to each DevOps deployment
• Postman API scripts for automation of API testing
• io automation of user behaviour in browsers
• Browserstack integration to run automated testing against multiple devices, operating systems, screen sizes and versions of browsers
• Automation of documentation of API endpoints
