Job Description

Senior Developer Birmingham, West Midlands (Hybrid working)The Company Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. Supporting both back and front-end development and integration with 3rd party software, you will ensure services are simple, efficient and accessible and continually work to identify potential improvements to existing services. Training non-technical colleagues, you will drive understanding of technical concepts concisely and clearly, enabling others to understand the role of Development in the organisation. About YouTo be considered as a Senior Developer, you will need:- The ability to deliver maintainable/clean code and set standards for other developers to follow- Experience of building scalable server-side cloud-based web applications in Microsoft Azure and detailed knowledge of the C#, .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core and MVC programming languages- A detailed understanding of front-end web development - The ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience- Experience of agile development, software patterns, continuous integration and Test-Driven Development- Extensive experience of agile environments and version/source control and their configuration- An understanding the role of accessibility in digital services- The ability to design and build secure digital services, with practical experience catering for OWASP and other vulnerabilitiesExperience of using/implementing the GOV Design System would be beneficial to your application, as would the ability to deliver software to utilise the features of the Azure platform. An understanding of Continuous Integration/Development processes would beadvantageous, as would the ability to deliver RESTFUL web services. A thorough understanding of architectural patterns and principles and the ability to develop software using SQL server as the underlying data store is preferable, as is a solid understandingof SOLID Principles. An understanding of distributed, enterprise level, applications and experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage is desirable.The closing date for this role is 24th August 2022.We reserve the right to change the closing date depending on the number of responses received.
