Job Description

Job Description An exciting opportunity has arisen to help advise on the development of the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS), product acceptance schemes and quality management systems used by National Highways and other highway clients throughout the United Kingdom.The NHSS, which is independent of National Highways, aims to make sure that work is carried out to the highest standards of professionalism, using properly trained and competent staff. It also places a strong emphasis on health, safety and environment. ProductAcceptance and Quality Management are key parts of the technical standards (the DMRB and MCHW) that are used design, construct, maintain and operate roads across the United Kingdom. The post holder will be engaged in projects to improve and ensure applicationof product acceptance schemes and quality management systems.The post holder will develop and implement policies, standards, operating procedures, and best practices, and provide specialist advice and guidance regarding the development, management of the NHSS.This role will be based from one of our offices in Birmingham, Bedford, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Guildford or Exeter. The post holder will be expected to travel to other offices and suppliers offices throughout England as required. The ability to drivewill be useful as some travel to rural locations may also be required. Occasional travel to meet with the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland may also be required.What youll be leading on

  • Advising on the development of the NHSS
  • The development of standards (DMRB and MCHW) related to product acceptance and quality management systems.
To be successful you will have:
  • Evidence of managing complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • A broad experience of quality management ideally in highways management or related infrastructure management
  • Proven experience of developing and delivering change ideally related to technical standards
  • Proven experience of providing information and specialist advice in a specific discipline.
  • Proven experience of developing solutions and providing specialist advice.
  • Working knowledge of product acceptance schemes in the highways sector is desirable.

Senior Advisors are key members of a team improving services to improve the development and delivery of these standards.
