Job Description

Are you an experienced and passionate teaching assistant with a strong background in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) If so, Tradewind Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for you to join a dedicated year group team ata highly regarded primary school in Northfield, Birmingham.About the School:Our client is a large primary school that has been rated as "Good" by OFSTED. The school is known for its inclusive and supportive environment, where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. With a committed year group team anda supportive senior leadership team, the school provides an excellent platform for professional growth and development paired with our own CPD program via The National College.Role Description:As an experienced teaching assistant, you will be supporting children with SEN in a mainstream Year 3 class. You will work closely with the class teacher, the SLT, and other professionals to provide targeted support and interventions to meet theindividual needs of the students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of SEN children in the classroom setting.
  • Implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapting learning materials to cater to the specific needs of each student.
  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and LST to monitor and track the progress of SEN children.
  • Providing feedback and regular communication to parents and carers regarding their childs progress.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant, specifically supporting children with SEN, preferably in a mainstream setting.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of different learning needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate would be advantageous.
