Job Description

Tucsen Photonics is a global leader in Scientific camera technology, and it has recently set up a UK office in Birmingham. It is looking to build its team by adding a recent graduate or PhD/Post Doc who can grow with the company.Our cameras are used across the world on microscopes, in gene sequencing systems, synchrotrons, COVID test machines, etc. We are based in central Birmingham (Brindley Place) and the role is office based except when you may be required to travel for customervisits (2 to 6 days per month). The role of the Scientific Sales Engineer will be to focus on selling directly to universities and research institutes working primarily with advanced microscopy applications.Our local manager has a history of taking graduates and post docs and converting them from academia to work in the commercial world.   • We work with scientist; you have to be interested in what people do
  • We sell something technical, not too technical but you have to enjoy connecting items to PCs and making them work in software.
  • We work with microscopes; you have to be a geek to work here. It’s a good thing.
  • We work with customers; you need to be capable and interested in getting up early to go and meet people in the UK but also in Europe
  • We work in sales, you need you to be capable of making warm calls, following up, and learning a process to sell.
  • We build careers, you need to understand this is a journey, you’re not going to learn everything in a week, you’re going to grow get better and we can grow your position or give you the experience you need to move on to a higher paid sales role.
  • We train people, we can add skills, we can’t add attitude - that’s on you.
  • We pay based on results, meaning we pay commission. Base salary is £2000 (BSc) or £2,750 (PhD) a month for year one which will risby £500 after 12 months based on achieving key metrics. A commission plan will be provided to allow you to make >£6000 morebased on results
