Job Description

Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor (SHE), Midlands, with travel as required.Salary circa £34k plus benefits (Car, Pension, PMI, Life Assurance)Our client is a long established leader in the UK Geotechnical Sector, with over 50 years of experience, delivering both Ground Investigation and Drill and Grout services from three bases across the country.The Ground Investigation Division provides a broad scope of coverage, capable of completing investigations ranging from single house foundation investigations, to nationally significant capital and infrastructure schemes such as HS2, Crossrail and Thames Tideway. The Drill and Grout Division take pride in their capability to deliver both Bulk Infill and more Technical Grouting solutions.The company is looking for a project based SHE Advisor to strengthen their SHEQ Team providing support with competent advice regarding health, safety and welfare provision, and hands on support to project teams regarding H&S requirements, including assisting the completion of appropriate documentation, engagement visits and audits. The candidate must have previous Advisory experience in a construction site setting

  • To ensure that all company operations are undertaken in a safe manner by stopping any works where there is an imminent risk of harm to person, property or environment and assisting the project personnel to resume activities in a safe manner .
  • Advise the company on all matters pertaining to the safety and well-being of all personnel on-site (including visitors and contractors) as well as ensuring the company meets its moral and legal responsibilities with regards to HSE.
  • Provide support to project teams in the fulfilling of their duties regarding H&S requirements of the company, client, and legislation, including assisting the completion of appropriate documentation.
  • Undertake safety engagement visits and audits of operational locations as directed by the company
  • Develop & maintain strong relationships with client teams.
  • Attend safety and other meetings as directed and report on findings.
  • Support the H&S manager in the preparation, development, and maintenance of the company SHEQ management system.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, and lead by example to ensure company goals are achieved and exceeded.
  • Assist project personnel in the completion of accident and incident investigations.
  • To assist the H&S manager in the development of appropriate H&S campaigns, toolbox talks, reports, and safety training for the company.
  • Support the collection and analysis of relevant data relating to H&S performance
  • To attend relevant meetings as directed by the company
  • Qualifications:Membership of IOSH – Technician or greater (essential)NEBOSH Construction Certificate – or equivalent (essential)NEBOSH Fire certificate – or equivalent (desired but not essential)NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent (desired but not essential)Appropriate CSCS card (desired but not essential)Training qualifications in construction related areas (desired but not essential)Full UK driving licence (essential)Desired competenciesPersonal commitment to improving Safety, Health and Wellbeing standards in the workplaceAbility to develop strong relationships and communicate across all levelsExperience of working on major infrastructure projectsExperience with ground investigation/land drilling advantageousWillingness to travel and stay away from home when requiredExperience in the production of safety reports, briefing documents, and proceduresAbility to apply relevant legislation in a practical mannerExperience with behavioural safety techniquesExperience of incident investigation and root cause analysisImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
