Job Description

Quality Manager We are recruiting for a Quality Manager on permanent basis. Your role will be to support the delivery of the programme in compliance with the stated requirements, through the design development and implementation of effective quality management processesand procedures in support of delivery teams.Youll lead the development of surveillance and monitoring regimes, appropriate supplier controls and the development and implementation of a robust Quality culture within the delivery team.As a Quality Manager, you will need to have/be:

  • Skills:
    • Ability to produce and present documents and reports to a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders at various levels in the organisation
    • Influencing and negotiation skills - including influencing internal and external stakeholders without direct authority
    • Ability to interpret management system standards for application to infrastructure projects.
    • Project management skills - the ability to take a project remit and develop project content and technical interventions to deliver defined outcomes.
    • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, to deliver reports and assurances to agreed deadlines
  • Knowledge:
    • Educated to degree, HND or HNC level (or an equivalent), preferably in an engineering or construction related subject.
    • Knowledge of audit and assurance processes and 3 lines of defence. * Successfully completed an IRCA approved ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course.
    • Knowledge and understanding of how enterprise risk management interfaces with health and safety corporate level risks.
    • Understanding the needs for and the reporting of risk and assurance
  • Type of experience:
    • Experience of leading Quality management systems on an infrastructure project or within a large organisation; including leading on change management to embed practices, policy development experience, supply chain exposure and Quality performance measurements.
    • Experience of delivering projects and initiatives with proven record of business improvement.
    • Experience of co-ordinating operational audits.
    • Experience of analysing risk information and the development of risk actions.
    • Experience in in creating effective Quality performance reports that are the basis for management decisions
    • Experience of operational auditing

Role of Quality Manager:
  • Implement the controls necessary to deliver the programme in compliance with the stated requirements in consultation with the delivery teams. Provide support to the delivery team to resolve any quality issues that may arise and provide advice and supportto the delivery teams.
  • Review and update of the Integrated Management System (IMS) as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain the Quality Management System to ISO 9001 ensuring it drives continual improvement to continue to create a world class system; acting as the accountable contact to co-ordinate independent UKAS accredited certification.
  • Use quality management tools and techniques to promote continual improvements and quality awareness throughout the Programme.
  • Contribute to the selection and evaluation of suppliers for the programme to help ensure the all suppliers can comply with the Integrated Management System and have the necessary capabilities to deliver consistently to the required standard.
  • Participate in Management meetings providing insight into the key areas of concern surrounding Quality Management.
  • Support the resolution of issues that result from identified non-conformity via discussion with the delivery team and supplier or contractor if applicable. Where necessary escalate issues to functional and programme management heads.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships with regard to quality and ensure that requirements are understood and complied with, work is completed to the required standard and the facilitation of continual improvement through the supply chain.
  • Establish and agree key performance targets in order to optimize business performance in line with set objectives.
  • Input into the audit planning process to ensure that key area risks are included in the programme and that contractors and suppliers have the appropriate coverage in consultation with the Head of Quality and IMS.
  • Participate in management system audits including contractor and supplier audits as required.
  • Input into a co-ordinated management system review process as required by international standards e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
