Job Description

Location: Location Independent (base location Glasgow or Small Heath)Safety Notice: To ensure candidate and employee safety, we are continuing with our virtual hiring and onboarding processes until further notice.Vodafone UK Corporate functions work within the heart of our business, providing professional expertise, support and guidance across all operations, revolutionising our digital growth by always moving, always adapting, to be ready for the future.What will you be doingTo manage the delivery, quality, progress of projects in the Northern region which support the companies telecoms and data centre estate within the Northern Region.(Birmingham - Highlands & Islands off Scotland + Northern Ireland).Responsible for architecture and configuration of the Building Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platform that provides the control and monitoring of over 350 Critical network locations.

  • To manage the technical delivery of Property and Technology construction projects (up to £1 million) from conception through feasibility, detailed design, tender and delivery into maintenance.
  • Manage site quality, programme delivery and all aspects of H&S and Environmental compliance.
  • Maintain and update site documentation including as built drawings, operational & maintenance manuals etc.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken professionally and in accordance with the agreed Risk Assessments and method Statements and in accordance with all relevant current standards and regulations.
  • Raise and Review all contractors working practices, Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Ensure all Change Control documentation is prepared and approved prior to any works progressing.
  • Provide on Call Technical Assistance (1 week in 10) and Holiday Cover for other members of the Property Operations team.
  • Undertake site condition surveys, raise any issues in relation to housekeeping, maintenance activities, security issues or energy efficiency issues.
  • Support the Infrastructure Operations team in delivery of enhance telemetry and the deployment of SCADA monitoring systems.
  • Manage the delivery of telemetry system design, testing and integration activities to facilitate smooth handover from development into the operational environment.
  • Provide design and delivery support to projects on the best methods for integrating new systems and services with existing or third party requirements
  • Ensure the telemetry system functions in compliance with the Cyber Security team guidelines at all times.
  • Keep appraised of new technologies, protocols and hardware and evaluate for use within the telemetry systems based on cost and benefit.
  • Provide training and development for end users on the various elements within the system.
Who are we looking for
  • Degree Level in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Awareness of current data science approaches to engineering reliability and efficiency, including use of Machine Learning (ML) and rules engines to drive cost effective maintenance through analytics and continuous commissioning.
  • Understanding of Enterprise IT systems, including Virtual Machines/Appliances and OS (Linux & Windows).
  • Understanding of communication network systems (Switches, routers, firewalls & load balancers).
  • Data Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) and data wrangling functions.
  • Building Management Systems (particularly Tridium Niagara Framework)
  • Network Protocols (particularly Modbus, BACNet, SNMP, MQTT)
  • Data Analytics (including Python, Tableau etc)
  • Greater than three years experience post qualification in a similar Design / Project Management.
  • Conversant with a wide range of building service systems and equipment
  • Good Financial Management Understanding
  • Good Computer Knowledge working experience of using CAD systems, Building Management Systems (particularly Tridium Niagara Framework), Network Protocols (particularly Modbus, BACNet, SNMP, MQTT) and Data Analytics (including Python, Tableau etc)
  • Must be able to drive and be prepared to provide national coverage (Full driving licence)
  • Good team worker with an ability to provide effective management skills to the team
