Job Description

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next challengeLooking for a role where you can use your sound negotiating and commercial skillsThen National Highways have the role for you!Were looking for 2 x Project Managers to join our team based in Leeds or Wakefield to manage projects on the SRN, working closely with our commercial, constructions teams and a wide range of lot providers engaged to design and construct our schemes. Workingunder the portfolio scheme lead, youll be liaising with internal and external stakeholders to understand scheme scoping and delivery proposals, process mapping to get schemes to site, as well as handing post-scheme activities.What youll be leading on

  • Manage Health & Safety across the project and holds suppliers to account for their performance.
  • Discuss, agree and implement project plans, to ensure that all activities are appropriately organised to deliver project objectives, are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes, and comply with locally defined procedures.
  • Oversee feasibility for proposed projects, to inform the development of business cases and investment proposals.
  • Design and agree key project milestones, scope acceptable risks and priorities, ensuring that appropriate governance is in place to achieve successful delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of robust business cases, to clarify business benefits, quantify resource requirements and identify project interdependencies.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate.
  • Commission and manage the performance of delivery partners and expert consultancy support as appropriate, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood, setting clear expectations for health & safety management, time and cost;and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
To be successful
  • Professional accreditation: full member (or willing to become) of APM (MAPM) or appropriate professional body for their specialist field (desirable not essential).
  • Strong collaborator, to gain the involvement and engagement of a wide range of senior stakeholders.
  • High resilience, to deal constructively conflicting priorities and setbacks.
  • Excellent communication skills to clarify and ensure understanding of project strategies and solutions.
  • Commercially focused, to drive project performance and value for money.
  • Strong analytical and IT skills
  • Able to build trust with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the development of project plans and detailed stage plans.
  • Evidence of managing business and/or value management cases for new projects.
