Job Description

Robert Walters are offering a role for Project Accountant required for a company based in Birmingham. You will be required to take ownership of assigned company financial obligations reporting directly to the Financial Controller.Project Accountant Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting on finance-related aspects of capital projects across the managed portfolio
  • Managing monthly accounting position of assigned companies
  • Managing other finance issues for assigned companies, e.g stakeholder queries
  • Preparation of internal and external reporting in line with agreed timetables
  • Preparation of year end trial balance and supporting external audit process
  • Preparation of monthly cashflow analysis and review of variance to budget
  • Monthly review of all items on balance sheet and appropriate backing documents and notes linked to monthly management accounts files
  • Deferred income, prepayment and accrual monthly posting and maintaining of associated schedules
  • Initial review of monthly P&L and balance sheet with review points added to management accounts files
  • Review and reconciliation of intercompany balances/ preparation of intercompany matrices
  • Review of quarterly VAT returns and responsibility for payment timings
  • Dealing directly with HMRC regarding VAT and CIS returns and managing any resulting queries/investigations
  • Support the Financial Controller when financial information is required
Project Accountant Requirements
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or similar with at least 1 year PQE
  • Self-motivated and efficiency driven individual
  • Strong ability to work independently managing workload to meet required deadlines
  • Strong eye for detail and motivated by process improvement
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage multiple clients/customers
  • Experience of using Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Experience in working for a multi-disciplinary team
  • Literate and numerate
  • Self confidence
  • Ability to develop
