Job Description

Closing Date: 16/01/2022UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of creativity taking place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and online from March to October 2022. Were lifting the lid on 10 awe inspiring new ideas, shaped across science,technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics by brilliant minds working in unexpected collaborations. Unmissable events and unforgettable experiences are coming to places and spaces right across the UK: from coastal towns and city centres to breathtakingareas of natural beauty.UNBOXED are looking for a passionate Press & PR Manager to spearhead and deliver PR plans for UNBOXED locally, international and internationally. You will work alongside the Media Relations Manager and festival Producers to deliver the UNBOXED 2022 culturalprogramme, developing creative angles and coherent narratives and interpreting complex information to create engaging content for multiple, diverse audiences. Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Media Relations Manager to deliver effective and impactful PR campaigns at a local, national and international level.
  • Devise press materials which encompass and interpret a wide range of information and activity arising from creative projects.
  • Coordinate press trips and events to locations around the UK throughout the festival period in 2022.
  • Help build stories that reflect the ambition, range and diversity of the festival across science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) sectors.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the internal UNBOXED communications and creative teams, and with external project teams, journalists and cultural partner organisations.
  • Collate and maintain media assets such as images and filmed content.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on media coverage.
Skills and Experience:Essential
  • Proven working experience within a journalism, press office or media relations role
  • Versed in planning, delivering and evaluating large-scale PR campaigns at both a local and national level, working across print, broadcast and digital platforms
  • Excellent writing skills and substantial experience of composing engaging copy for different platforms and audiences
  • Established media contacts in one of more sectors across arts, science, engineering and technology
  • Educated to degree level or possess equivalent experience
Desirable
  • Specific PR or communications qualification
  • Experience with managing developing or reactive news stories
  • Confident in handling PR in support of public events
