Policy Manager - Online GamblingBirmingham, West Midlands (with hybrid working)Are you passionate about shaping effective policies and ensuring their impact We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Policy Manager to join our team in Birmingham. This is a key role that has a particular emphasis on remote gambling, product innovation,and the digital environment. It involves leading and conducting evidence analysis, stakeholder engagement, supporting consultation processes, partnershipworking with internal and external stakeholders, the provision of authoritative advice across the business, and assessing the impact of our policies.Your role will also involve:- Conduct effective planning for policy projects and contribute to effective programme management within the Commission- Maintain and develop subject matter expertise, with a focus on remote gambling, product innovation and the digital landscape- Manage policy tasks and deliverables and in particular support all stages of policy work from setting policy processes to working with Research and Statistics to evaluate the impact of our policies- Share authoritative expertise within the Commission through a mix of training and provide advice and support on complex issues. Support the provision of Advice to Government on effective legislation and policy- Manage stakeholder relationships which may include the remote gambling sector, domestic and international regulators and other bodies, the digital and tech sectors and shared regulation partnersPolicies can relate to:- Requirements or codes of practice set out in Licence conditions and codes of practice (LCCP)- Guidance to operators- Guidance to licensing authorities- Processes for decision-making- Technical standards for online gambling and gaming machinesAbout YouThe successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:- Experience in the gambling sector or transferable industry. You will have knowledge and expertise relating to remote gambling products, the online marketplace and the digital landscape.- Strong analytical skills and proven experience in developing and shaping policy, particularly relating to consumer protection. You will be able to gather, verify and assess all relevant information, sense check with colleagues and stakeholders as appropriate.- Draw out clear, timely and justifiable conclusions, make recommendations for action where needed. Be able to explain the rationale and evidence for those recommendations.- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information to a range of audiences in a clear and timely fashion.- An ability to engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders. You will provide expert advice and guidance and build effective relationships and partnerships to reach solutions that support the licensing objectives and relevant legislation.- Experience of leading and delivering work streams or project activity to agreed outcomes, deadlines, and budget. This will include planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation as appropriate.- Enthusiasm for the wide-ranging work with plenty of opportunities to bring ideas and experience to help improve what we do and how we do it.Desirable:- Working in a policy and/or regulatory environment- Educated to degree level or equivalent- Understanding of the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling (Advertising and Licensing) Act 2014- Understanding of relevant consumer protection legislationAbout UsSet up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling.
