Job Description

Payroll Advisor - Immediate StartLocation: Birmingham (B45)Salary: £25-30,000 + benefitsContract: 6-12 month FTCOur Client is seeking an enthusiastic Payroll Advisor to join their shared service team immediately.In conjunction with the Payroll Manager and Analyst of our global Client you will complete all processing and payovers which need to be up to date and paid out by the agreed deadlines.Through demonstrating due diligence in data input, the Payroll Advisor ensures we provide a world-class payroll service for colleagues across the UK and IrelandThe role:

  • Supporting and providing advice on end-to-end payroll including matters such as Student loans, pensions, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay, Tax, Sick pay, etc.
  • The first port of call for support for queries raised by line managers
  • Responsible for the processing of the monthly and 4 weekly payrolls across 1000+ employees within UK and Ireland
  • Liaise with internal and external parties such as expenses teams, HMRC and internal HR teams to ensure all files are correct and up to date
  • Using Excel, including V-Look Ups and Pivot Tables to produce reports to be sent to senior leaders
  • Input advances into SAP prior to the Supplementary Bacs run
  • Court Orders and Attachment of Earnings inc. Student loans
  • Processing starters and leavers including Starter Checklists and P45s
  • Liaison with third parties including CMS, DWP, HMRC, Irish Revenue
  • Complete statements of earnings
  • Check bank statements for any monies returned
  • Liaise with Central HR team and Employee Relations teams to resolve any payroll issues
  • Payroll account reconciliations
  • Assist with training of new team members
  • In conjunction with the Payroll Manager, be responsible for the processing of the monthly and 4 weekly payrolls
  • Prepare and process Court Order payments
  • Prepare and process 3rd party payments, including union/voluntary deductions
  • Monitoring areas of concern/trends and addressing these appropriately.
  • Reports as requested by the Business.
  • Running of payroll period reports as per daily/weekly/period report schedule.
The person:
  • Happy to work fully in the office for the first month
  • Previous experience working within a payroll team within a large corporate organisation is ideal
  • Experience of processing payroll for high-volumes of employees (1,000+)
  • Extensive UK payroll experience
  • Previous payroll advisory experience
  • Minimum GCSE Maths grade A-C or equivalent qualification
  • High levels of organisation
  • Knowledge of PAYE, NI, Statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills an essential
  • Be able to meet strict deadlines
  • Understanding of Real Time Information and Pension Auto Enrolment
  • Previous experience with SAP/Success Factors, or similar large payroll/ERP system
