Job Description

Job Title:Operations DirectorLocation:Kings Norton, BirminghamSalary:Excellent Salary and benefits available Jonathan Lee has a fantastic opportunity to help support one of the leading Engineering companies in the Midlands in their search for a new Operations Director.This role will work directly with the Managing Director to facilitate a growth plan that delivers a greater geographical and specific customer reach, meets increased turnover and profitability demands and expectations whilst nurturing a culture of continuousimprovement across specific areas of the business.Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Managing Director to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress
  • Supervise staff from the operational team and provide constructive feedback
  • Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organisational objectives and apply improvements
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate resources allocation appropriately
  • Oversee customer support processes and organise them to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote and improve profitability
  • Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established Group systems
Person SpecificationExperience and Knowledge - Essential
  • Able to demonstrate a strong commercial and operations management background.
  • Completion of a recognised engineering qualification or time served trade apprenticeship
  • Proven record of success in a similar role within an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience defining and managing best practice in respect of both financial and operational management
  • Experience of successful management of large as well as small/medium budget projects within tight financial circumstances and in a competitive environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships both internal and external
  • Experience of customer and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrate ability to understand engineering drawings
  • Demonstrate full understanding Health and Safety practices
  • Understand and be able to create Risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Experience and Knowledge - Desirable
  • Experience of working in the Food and Beverage industry would be advantageous
  • Experience of successfully managing large revenue and multi-disciplined projects in a competitive industrial environment
  • Experience in setting/contributing to strategy
  • Experience of effective policy development

Qualifications:
  • Completion of a recognised engineering qualification or time served trade apprenticeship
  • Membership of a relevant certified body or possession of an appropriate Management Qualification is desirable
