Job Description

A company that manufactures custom automated and physical access control solutions is now seeking a Design Engineer to join their new purpose-built facility in Birmingham. A company that prides itself on innovation is offering the successful candidate theopportunity to design complete solutions, with varied, complex components in a variety of industries such as, Transport, Retail, Government and more.Reporting to the Design Manager, you will design full solutions from scratch as well as modifications to an existing product range. You will join working with an existing team of Design Engineers and you will liaise with teams on site to create industryleading solutions in a highly competitive market.Mechanical Design Engineer duties include:

  • Create, draw and contribute concept ideas for new products and existing products.
  • Prototype manufacture and testing.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to meet all design deadlines.
  • Communicate with installation and production team to ensure any issues or queries are resolved.
  • Ad hoc design work - non-project-based work.
  • Standard drawings control - issuing new drawings and controlling changes to current standard drawings.
  • Site visits when required.
To be successful in the role of Mechanical Design Engineer, the ideal Candidate will:
  • Ideally be proficient in the use of Solidworks
  • Possess excellent attention to detail due to short manufacturing lead times.
  • Enjoy working in a busy exciting environment.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of weldments, welded parts and metal static parts.
  • Understanding of installation processes and techniques, including knowledge of joinery manufacturing.
Benefits:
  • Base Salary: up to £40,000 - Depending on experience.
