Job Description

Role: Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Rubery B45Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 (Overtime on Saturday x1.5)Shifts: 6am2pm, 2pm10pmThe Company:With over 60 years of trading history this privately owned business has again seen record growth in their Birmingham facility.Their current turnover sits at £12 million with a head count of 130 employees, within 5 years the plan is to increase to 170 employees, turning over £25 million.As a privately run SME, the business has shown high levels of innovation, diversification and opportunity to penetrate new and emerging markets supplying the worlds most recognised car brandsKey responsibilities:

  • Provide breakdown cover both electrical and mechanical
  • Fault finding on PLCs via I/O
  • Carry out planned maintenance as per the companies PM schedules
  • Electronically record all relevant information relating to breakdowns and PMs
  • Carry out modifications, plant relocation and re-installation (mechanical and electrical)
  • Work safely within the companies Health and Safety requirements
  • Manage contractors when required
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to rectify recurring issues
  • Undertake projects requested by the Maintenance Manager
  • Advise on spare part requirement to the Maintenance Manager
The Person:Essential
  • Qualifications within relevant mechanical or electrical fields
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
  • Fault finding experience with PLCs
  • Self-starter who can work effectively on their own under pressure and be able to prioritise breakdowns
  • Computer literate MS Office
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
Preferred but not essential
  • Apprentice trained with suitable qualifications, Level 3 C&G, ONC, HNC, HND in relevant fields mechanical / electrical
  • Injection moulding experience desirable but not essential
  • 17th / 18th edition wiring regulations desirable
  • Experience with sensors and vision systems desirable (Keyence, Sensopart, Balluff. Sick)
  • Working knowledge of safety systems desirable (Pilz, Schneider, Weiland, Rockwell, ABB)
  • Automotive manufacturing experience desirable
