Job Description

An established food manufacturer is looking to expand their engineering department and as a result, is recruiting for a Maintenance Manager.Client DetailsYou have the opportunity to be part of driving this fast-paced business improvement journey and develop a team in the meantime. This Birmingham based company make a range of consumer goods using electro-mechanical equipment that they strive to get the mostout of.DescriptionAs the Maintenance Manager you will be coordinating the maintenance schedules ensuring the team are on top of reactive maintenance and develop efficient preventative maintenance schedules, working with production to minimise down time. You will work closelywith the head of department and the wider manufacturing team to drive engineering efficiency & equipment reliability.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of multi-skilled engineers in the effective maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment
  • Organise, plan and monitor reactive and preventative maintenance work
  • Coordinating all the activities of the maintenance department
  • Route cause analysis of plant failure (e.g. 5Ys, Fishbone etc.)
  • Drive continuous improvement systems/methods (e.g. 5S, TPM, Lean)
  • Monitoring progress and improvement of delivery
  • Implement and monitor KPIs; analysing them and developing improvement plans for both equipment and team, utilising the CMMS
  • Work collaboratively with the senior management team to monitor and development production equipment and research potential investment areas
  • Supervise equipment installation/upgrades
  • Analyse trends of recurring issues encountered and support the teams in implementing long term solutions to be implemented
  • Develop and up-skill team
  • Ensure the safety and of all maintenance operations: applying, reinforcing the safety instructions
  • Enforce and apply best practice procedures and safety instructions
  • Coordinate with the Health and Safety team to ensure equipment and processes are compliant and safe
Travel to another Midlands site will be required as part of this roleProfileThis role is suited to a Maintenance/Engineering Manager with experiencing leading a team through a period of change/improvement. The successful applicant will have food/FMCG manufacturing experience as well as the following:
  • Ideally formal engineering qualifications
  • Familiar with modern maintenance and manufacturing methodologies
  • Passionate about continuous improvement
  • Proven capability of building, mentoring, motivating and leading teams through periods of change
  • Proven track record working with the wider/team business in order to support with Project Management and improve maintenance, Health and Safety procedures
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
