Job Description

Lead Engineer Position OverviewMy client are a manufacturer of copper alloys based in Birmingham. The global company specializes in niche products and is one of the worlds leading suppliers. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer with excellent career developmentprospects for the right candidate.Responsibilities include:

  • Promotion of a safe working environment and the responsibility for the safety of work colleagues and the understanding of any related safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with related safety regulations and identify a need for additional safety training.
  • Comply with the Companys environmental policies.
  • Undertake any training required to carry out the role.
  • Support and promote TPM maintenance system.
  • Support and promote the maintenance work priority system.
  • Co-ordinate day to day response to breakdown requests and ensure the clarity of instructions given. Evaluate and maintain work standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy and regularly monitor the completion of job sheets, reporting any issues to the engineering office.
  • Co-ordinate day to day routine maintenance work schedules, liaising with shift managers, meisters and operators. Evaluate and maintain work standards.
  • Provide technical support to the department.
  • Monitor discipline within the department and record any issues. Resolve the issue or report to the engineering office for further action.
  • Monitor task scheduling and assist in resolving any clashes.
  • Monitor and review ISO check lists and any issued job sheets, reporting any issues to the engineering office.
  • Identify the necessity for spares and clearly communicate this requirement to the engineering office.
  • Review essential spare availability and location, ensuring the clarity of information and communicate requirements to the engineering office.
  • Organise or provide shift cover for holiday and sickness absences.
  • Request contractor support when necessary and monitor contractor performance when on site, reporting any issues to the engineering office.
  • Apply Company policies and procedures, helping to maintain the standards.
  • Inform the office of absences.
Lead Engineer Position Requirements
  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Experience in heavy engineering
  • Foundry experience would be desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics is also desirable but not essential
  • Attitude and desire to progress to potential management role
Lead Engineer Position Remuneration
  • Starting salary of circa £40,000
  • Full benefits to be discussed
