Lead Engineer - Shopify / E-commerce £65K - £75K- Birmingham city centre based. 2 days per week in office *This role cannot provide sponsorship*Gleeson Recruitment group are pleased to be working with highly awarded, fast-growing health and well being business to recruit a Lead Engineer. This brand new vacancy has opened up due to mass business demand and growth.As a Lead Engineer, you will contribute to decisions leading to the modernisation of our digital infrastructure at the organisation. You will work with the Head of Technology, leading the in-house development process and work with our third-party resource,drive performance-based initiatives focused on stability and scalability and deliver the digital roadmap relating to web and mobile properties.Role Responsibilities

• Defining the design and creation of scalable software
• Working as part of a cross-functional agile team including third party developers, product design, product management and other stakeholders in order to ideate software solutions
• Designing and developing client-side and server-side applications
• Designing and developing modern and secure internal and public APIs
• Writing clean, documented and functional code
• Testing software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
• Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading software
• Writing technical documentation
• Working with data scientists and analysts to improve software
• Work with vendors who are providing development services to ensure consistency of approach.
• Implement prototype applications, environments, and technical proof of concepts to help guide technical strategy and approach.
• Collaborate with broader business units on priorities and execution, including working closely with Ecommerce, Marketing, Retention and Data teams to execute web and mobile platform enhancements and features.
• Ensure site and mobile compliance with all applicable requirements from marketplaces and government bodies, such as Security, Privacy and Accessibility.

What we need from you:

• Proven experience as a full-stack developer, ideally working on D2C products and APIs
• You will have great development skills coupled with pragmatic thinking
• Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies and common stacks
• Knowledge and experience of industry best practices and tools
• Experience developing web based applications
• Experience with the current stack used: Shopify Plus (including Shopify Liquid, Shopify APIs - GraphQL and REST, Shopify Functions and Shopify Checkout UI Extensions), Recharge Subscriptions or similar Subscriptions platform
• Experience with the stack in our roadmap to a composable architecture: React.JS, Node.JS, TypeScript, Next.JS, Sanity/Contentful, Vercel
• Deep familiarity with data tracking governance (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Segment, Server-side tracking set-up, identity stitching etc)
• Experience with Git, Docker and CI/CD
• Experience with serverless architecture e.g. Vercel Serverless Functions
• Experience working at a D2C brand in the Health and Beauty space or high growth, fast paced start-up
