Job Description

A leading supplier of services to the manufacturing industry are looking to fill number of Laboratory Technician vacancies to expand their skilled workforce in Birmingham.Job Title: Laboratory TechnicianLocation: Birmingham, West MidlandsSalary: £22,000 - £24,000 + Benefits (Listed below)

If youre able to a demonstrate an attention to detail, problem solving and intuition then this could be a first step to your career.This is a great opportunity for STEM discipline graduates to join an established company and gain valuable hands-on experience.Reporting to the Head of Laboratory, Duties Would Include:
  • Preparation of Metallographic Samples for examination and testing
  • To carry out any suitable or identified tests, inspections or examinations, mechanical, physical, optical or chemical, which are reliable and precise.
  • Testing for and preparation of Test Reports or Certificates for issue by the Head Of Laboratory or approved signatories
  • Sectioning and preparing samples for Metallographic Examination and/or Microhardness Testing for Case Depth Assessment by Traverse
  • Testing and checking identified equipment as part of monitoring and Process Control (i.e. Hardness Test Machines)
  • Use of Hardness Test Machines for identified inspections
  • Use of Microhardness Test Machines for Case Depth measurements as instructed
  • Basic maintenance of Lab Consumables, Equipments and Stock Consumables
  • Ensuring adequate quantities are available at all times (in particular for those shifts operating outside usual working hours)
  • The use of appropriate Computer Software to record Inspection Results
  • Data Archiving as instructed including the use of the Data Logging Systems to validate and produce Heat Treatment Record Charts
  • Data Archiving of identified documents involved in the running of Laboratory and Production Processes
  • Use of the Job Card System to evaluate Testing Requirements and Report Results
