Job Description

Job Title: IT Systems Engineer Location: Birmingham Mailbox ( 5 days on site ) Length: 6 Months Advantage Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of our well-established IT client for an IT Systems Engineer to join their organisation. A successful candidate should be able to hit the ground running with relevant experience supporting Microsoft Windows serversand active Directory services as well as experience being the escalation point for service desk analysts.Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems maintenance and management - Ensuring all systems and hardware under Group IT support are being maintained in line with thresholds regularly, such as Windows updates, system restarts, HA failovers and general housekeeping.
  • System stability, availability improvements and housekeeping - Responsible for ensuring system are running stable and responsibly and formulate recommendations for improvements to the current systems and solutions to improve service availability. E.g. buildingscripts to automate processes, reducing resource threshold where underused, altering Nagios to allow superior detection of issues.
  • Escalations for L1 - Provide diagnostic and specialist care of any issues that cannot be resolved by the Level 1 Team. Together with escalating support and system issues up to 3rd line where necessary with prompt and effective delivery
  • On Site Support - Accountable for onsite support at respective offices around the UK. Including all aspects of end User computing, server room Maintenance and patching, Servers and virtual infrastructures
  • Handover of systems and process to L1 - Responsible for identifying when systems and solutions are ready and handing those over to the Service Desk to support in a phased and consistent manner. Create support to be wrapped around new systems in line withdeclared support criteria.
Key Skills Required:
  • Experience in Supporting Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory Services and associated services including patching, maintaining, and administering roles and features
  • Experience in Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualisation technologies
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 Administration, applications and services
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with problems and technical issues in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience supporting Windows Desktop Operating Systems, including deployment and configuration
