Job Description

IT Support Technician12 month FTCExcellent salary/package (Holiday: 25 days + 8 Statutory Days, Pension up to 7% matched, Life Assurance: 5x Basic Salary)Growing Manufacturing BusinessOn-site in BirminghamMy client are a precision manufacturing business based in Birmingham specialising in machining and assembly of high value low volume components. Working within the IT department, the IT Support Technician will be required to support and manage our in-housecomputer software systems and network to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. The IT Support Technician will be involved in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenancethat is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements, liaising with external suppliers where required.IT Support TechnicianJob Description

  • Set up, configuration & Installation of PC’s and related IT equipment.
  • Server and user administration. Active directory, SQL Server and On-Prem Exchange and O365 Mail, File & other Servers.
  • Implement and maintain File and User security, permissions and Antivirus tools in line with Security policy and Cyber Essentials Plus best practice
  • End user support, which involves helping to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues on all systems including ERP and Manufacturing Systems.
  • Manage communications solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, Intranet, and Internet applications and company Mobile Phones
  • Manage company phone system and install & configure endpoints
  • Monitor & Update Systems Helpdesk, provide and document solutions.
  • Create system specifications and end user documentation.
  • Server operations including performance management, backup and restore, Disaster Recovery, VMware virtual server management, and Firewall & Network switch configuration.
  • Liaise with third party suppliers to provide additional external support and services
  • Develop, document, maintain audit policies and procedures for system administration and appropriate use of company systems in line with group and audit requirements
  • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.
IT Support TechnicianEssential Qualifications / Experience / Skills
  • At least 1 years demonstrated experience in an IT support/ Help Desk related role is essential.
  • Exposure to Windows Server and desktop systems (Windows 10), Active Directory.
  • Keen interest in IT and a desire to learn, investigate and understand IT technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of IT policies and standards.
  • Strong computer literate skills, MS Office (including Office 365) skills and experience
IT Support TechnicianDesirable Qualifications / Experience / Skills
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment beneficial.
  • IT Industry Certifications are advantageous
