Job Description

IT Manager.Independent School.Birmingham.£40,000 to £45,000 + generous holiday entitlement.One of Birmingham’s leading independent schools is seeking an IT Manager to manage, maintain and develop the school’s IT infrastructure (hardware and software) to support both education delivery and the support functions of the school.The school’s current network is on-premises and an early big project will be to manage the move to a cloud-based solution.Supported by an ICT Technician, the role will be a combination of project work, planned regular activities and trouble-shooting. Interaction with educational staff, support staff and pupils will be a key element of your working life at the school.Suitable candidates will have experience in:

  • Managing IT in an SME size organisation - ideally in education, but it could be in any sector.
  • Maintaining computer systems, including fault finding and minor computer repairs.
  • Setting up standalone and network personal computers, including: installing and configuring network clients and servers; virtual server infrastructure; installing and testing software; managing data protection requirements and appropriate filtering systems.
  • AV equipment.
  • Hand-held devices and applications.
You will be expected to have relevant IT qualifications and a demonstrable track record of staying abreast of developments in the IT world. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential as are organisation and time management.
