We are looking to recruit two Intensive Outreach and Recovery Workers to join the Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) within Forward Thinking Birmingham.SEDS are an established and ambitious team who are keen to drive forward service improvements through research in our specialist area. This includes working in collaboration with SLaM to become part of a group of spoke sites within the FREED network service, research and innovation scheme.SEDS provide specialist assessment, intervention and evidence based treatment for patients 0-25 with eating disorders in the community, alongside supporting their families/carers. The team also supports patients intensively in the community and in their own homes, to reduce inpatient admissions and facilitate safe early discharge. The roles will be HUB locality based. The successful candidate will work alongside clinical staff in providing both individual and group interventions for patients and families under the care of the Eating disorder team. With supervision and guidance they will support the team to deliver bespoke treatment packages, monitor patients mental and physical health needs, support meal planning and supervision in the home.Candidates must have a minimum of 12 months experience working within a mental health setting with children, young people or adults with mental health needs. A special interest in Eating Disorders and treatment models is desirable. The post holder will be required to have a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, be compassionate, respectful and value individual patient needs. They will have the ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner (this may be clinic based or in the home), be resilient and emotionally intelligent and engage positively with children, young adults and families. The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly across a 7 day working week, between 8am - 8pm weekdays and weekends where appropriate. A driving license and access to a car daily for work purposes is also essential as the service is citywide, and appointments often take place in the community or patients homes. For informal discussion regarding this post please contact Dan O‘Mara SEDS Team Manager or Pat Tulloch, Pathway Lead on .
